The Tereshkevich Youth Environmental Award was established in 2017 in honour of a well-known environmental activist in Kazakhstan and Central Asia - Dmitry Tereshkevich.

This award is designed not just to honour our beloved colleague and friend's memory but also to support young environmentalists. It appears as an opportunity for them to feel recognition and take pride in their achievements.

"We established this award to recognize courageous professionals who are ready for innovation and make a significant contribution to environmental protection. This opportunity is not for seasoned researchers and/or theorists. We reward young professionals under the age of 35, nominated by environmental non-governmental organizations,"- Vadim Ni, Member of the Board of Trustees.
